Clive initially studied Electronic, then Software Engineering. Early in his career, during the pre-Channel Tunnel era, he joined ZED Instruments and the Tunnel Guidance Group. Now working as a Project Engineer and primarily involved with Research and Development he also has to multitask with a field support role. Working as part of a small talented team has meant a varied career path gaining working experience on all aspects of the product and permitting a greater understanding of our customers' needs and allowing them to be incorporate in new designs.
Colin started his career with the Scientific Civil Service at the National Physical Laboratory, the UK Government's national standards and metrology centre in material science and force measurement.
Following graduation in Geology, he joined Gearhart Geodata, a company providing borehole logging and monitoring services for the oil and gas industry, working on exploration wells offshore around the coast of the UK and onshore in Andalusia, Spain.
He joined ZED Instruments in 1985 as a technician / service engineer for the Tunnel Guidance Group. Now with ZED Tunnel Guidance with a main role of Sales Manager, but also helping in providing a variety of subsidiary roles and support to his colleagues, including on-site service, installation & commissioning.
Mick originally read Physics at University but then left pure science for a career in Engineering. He worked his way via Decca Radar and Marconi Space and Defence systems to Z ED Instruments and then ZED Tunnel Guidance.
His main role within the Company is Senior Project Engineer and with Clive shares responsibility for new developments, having gained valuable experience working in the electronic and opto-mechanical instrumentation field since the 1980s; he too can even remember tunneling in pre-Channel Tunnel days. Similar to his colleagues Mick is involved with other responsibilities including field service. He has been a Chartered Engineer since the early 1990s.
Mikael studied Electronic Engineering at Warwick University, but decided to move to Software when joining Philips Consumer Electronics. He then moved to ZED Instruments developing software for laser engraving machines within the print industry. Finally, in 2005 he joined ZED Tunnel Guidance and as a Project Engineer his primary function is in Research and Development of PC based Software. With embedded computer technology becoming more powerful and rugged, new equipment with user friendly graphical interfaces are possible.
On this platform many new features can be implemented in software providing greater product flexibility. This allows a quicker implementation of the customers’ specific needs in new designs.
